(in my best WOPR-like voice) Shall we play a game?

If Pelosi clenches her arsecheeks any tighter during this speech, she could turn sand into a pearl.
I really do not like that woman. Dems would do good to rid themselves of her.

Congress needs a good purge of these decrepit fools. Goodness, they pan to the crowd and half of these people are casket sharp. Start warming up the hearses out back! Looking at you Bernie...

Another SotU speech long on style but short on substance.... except Trump's delivery is not nearly as polished as those who have preceded him. I realize he is not a career politician so delivering a speech is not his forte. I still hope for the day that as a POTUS makes their points in the SotU speech, both sides of the aisle will rise to their feet instead of just one

It was defintely one of the fluffier speeches, which is saying something for a SOTU address.

I was surprised he didn't touch on his plan for NASA, especially considering what came out in recent days about not extending the ISS past 2025 and his desire to go back to the Moon.

Seems like Trump's amnesty offer isn't sitting well with his core base. But then again, I don't think the Dems are going to accept this deal...well at least with Pelosi and Schumer at the helm.

Regarding amnesty, what kind of country permits an illegal action to take place and then those who break the law demand it is legalized and go unpunished? I find the fact that New York and California view my conceal carry permit as invalid is a travesty. If I go conceal carry in those states and demand I get a pass for breaking a law, will I get that? Probably not...

The left's view of immigration in general isn't much short of insane, at least when you pair it with them sharing many socialistic ideas for government. I don't see it as much more than politics however, if these immigrants voted 80/20 Republican, or even 50/50, it'd be a much different fight from the left.

In the long run, if you want high immigration of poor migrants, the government cannot provide the types of services that the left wants to eventually enact ("free" education, "free" healthcare, etc.). If you have a strict merit-based immigration policy (see: Norway, for example), then those types of services are more feasible long run. However, it isn't like a budget hardly even matters anymore.

When they started quivering as Trump was announcing he plans on ending chain migration, that says all I need to know.

Pelosi's Senate salary is just a small percentage of her income. It's amazing to see the net worth increase of senators and representatives after they spend a few terms in DC. This applies to both sides of the aisle.

I’ve always thought just about every SOTU speech was good. I don’t think any of them have really panned out.

I have to admit though, whoever translated Trump’s speech from Russian did an excellent job.

The next time someone says "what has Congress done to stop abortion" show them the link below. Good ole Doug Jones from Alabama voted against a ban that would prevent lethally injecting and subsequently ripping apart fetuses 5+ months old.

http://www.nationalreview.com/corne...pass-pain-capable-unborn-child-protection-act

The Senate failed this evening to pass the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, which would’ve banned abortions after 20 weeks, after Democrats filibustered the bill.

Two Republicans — Susan Collins of Maine and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska — continued their support for abortion by crossing the aisle to vote with the Democrats against the bill. Meanwhile, three Democrats — Joe Manchin of West Virginia, Bob Casey Jr. of Pennsylvania, and Joe Donnelly of Indiana — broke ranks and voted with Republicans in favor of the legislation. The vote split along similar party lines in 2015, the last time the Senate considered similar legislation.

The bill was based on scientific evidence showing that fetuses have the capacity to feel pain beginning at 20-weeks’ gestation.

Have you thought about a career in comedy? My sides are splitting from all of the laughter.

I thought his speech was good, too. The parts of it I saw. Let's give his speech writer the credit he/she is due, however. Not for it's eloquence, for it wasn't eloquent. But for making Donald J Trump sound like a president. Because he sure isn't capable of doing that on his own. Unfortunately, no one will remember the speech... because in five minutes he will tweet something completely asinine and ruin it.

Not sure what is worse, plagiarism or the fact that someone actually follows Gutierrez.

At least use the friggin quotation if you're gonna steal terrible jokes from a vehemently anti-American shill.

The biggest takeaway is that we may be beginning to see the alt-left collapse on itself. A whopping 43% of DEMOCRATS rated the speech favorably, as well as 71% of moderates/independents. If Trump can make it through year 2 with more progress on his campaign promises but cut out the controversial remarks, the GOP may see some big gains once midterms roll around.
