...TORNADO OUTBREAK EXPECTED TODAY FROM NORTH TEXAS INTO OKLAHOMA...SOUTHEAST KANSAS AND FAR SOUTHWEST MISSOURI...
The mid-level jet is forecast to eject quickly northeastward across
the southern Plains this afternoon. This will result in strong
deep-layer shear across most of the southern Plains, and will create
a large-scale mass response that will be very favorable for severe
storms, including supercells and bowing line segments. As the core
of the mid-level jet moves into the southern Plains during the mid
to late afternoon, a 50 to 60 knot low-level jet will rapidly
strengthen. RAP forecast sounding along and near the low-level jet
during the late afternoon look very favorable for tornadoes, with
backed surface flow, and long looping hodographs. As the low-level
jet strengthens, 0-3 km storm-relative helicity is forecast to
increase to around 400 m2/s2 across much of central and eastern
Oklahoma into southeast Missouri. The more dominant and supercells
that interact with the western and northern edge of the low-level
jet are expected to become tornadic. Several strong tornadoes will
be likely, and a few long-track EF3+ tornadoes will be possible.
I am worried for you guys after today's show. I have lots to do with granddaughters tommorrow, but I will definitely be watching things and keeping my iPhone linked in here and Radar Scope.I am legitimately concerned about tomorrow living here in Norman. I have not had this level of concern since 5/20/2019.
Take from that what you will, but the prospect of multiple rounds of supercells and a QLCS moving through an extremely moist and moderately to highly sheared warm sector is a daunting one to say the least.
I have a feeling they're gonna issue a high risk later. You don't see this wording with moderate risks....TORNADO OUTBREAK EXPECTED TODAY FROM NORTH TEXAS INTO
OKLAHOMA...SOUTHEAST KANSAS AND FAR SOUTHWEST MISSOURI...
The tempering factor is that it's Chris Broyles, who likes a stronger wording.I have a feeling they're gonna issue a high risk later. You don't see this wording with moderate risks.
Ah classic plains setup where you have all the “big tornado towns” in the MDT. Moore, El Reno, Chickasha, and a few others.
Am I in the Moderate Risk area? I can't tell but it looks like I may be just outside of it or on the line of it.

Yikes. High risk might be needed today.I wasn’t sure about today anymore but with that moisture recovering and yesterday’s performance…uhm…do we have a second big day coming? Maybe
Briefly off topic, but unless Andy has turned it down, can we get an admin member here to get him a red Met tag? He is, at minimum, a Master's degreed meteorologist from the top meteorology school in the nation. If anybody in our currently active posting roster is deserving of one, it's him...
