And now he’s a 4. Rapid, rapid intensification.
I don't know what the quickest time a storm went from a 2 to a 4, but Delta has to be near the top of the record book.

Now 145 but pressure only down to 956mb (?) Sally knocked down trees on at least 3 of my friends home in the Mobile & Pensacola area. They don't need Delta too.

There's a BIG gap between Delta's 145 mph & the air pressure you would expect with a storm that strong.

Seems that Delta ran into some stronger than expected shear.
Yep about 25-30kts out of the SE. GFS was forecasting half of that and with the forward speed would’ve nearly negated it. But, pressure is still very low but winds have dropped like a rock on first couple passes.

Delta's weakening trend overnight/this morning has been almost as shocking as the way it strengthened yesterday.

Tiny storms can be much more detrimentally affected by shear than larger ones. Delta’s expansion in the gulf will help mitigate the increasing shear near landfall but ultimately won’t stop it from weakening...just slower.

Models continue to shift west this morning.

What did Lake Charles do to piss mother nature off so bad?
