You sound just like Joe Scarborough. We postponed some war games. No big deal. The troops in SK are so finely tuned that this won't harm their readiness. So overdramatic!
We did much more than postpone our military exercises and you know that. If you are going to say things in bad faith then I really shouldn't even respond.
Trump parroted multiple pieces of North Korea propaganda. One, that our military exercises are "provocative." Two, that North Korea didn't keep previous agreements because the US didn't uphold OUR end of the deal. That's such a ridiculous lie, and it might be the most embarrassing thing an American President has ever said. That's in addition to saying that Kim's people love him and that he cares about him.
There was no agreement to denuclearize, which was supposed to be a pre-condition or even having a summit just a few months back. Now, there's not even such an agreement after having the summit.
The US made multiple huge concessions while NK made zero. We put Kim and NK on equal footing with our country. We put the American flag right next to the North Korean flag even though we are still at war with them. A peace treaty was never signed. Think about that for a minute. Trump didn't even negotiate an end to the war, but here he is cancelling military exercises and saying he's looking to withdraw our troops.
Trump was absolutely rolled by North Korea and Kim. I can't believe Bolton went along with this, but it isn't the first time someone has given up their integrity to please Trump -- only it is never dictators like Assad, Putin, and Kim.
The summit was a total catastrophe. NK made no concessions. They did nothing more than they've done before in small side meetings at unimportant events.
Now we have Russia and China telling the UN Security Council that we should remove sanctions on NK. How long before Trump agrees to that so he can get a second meeting with Kim?
Trump looked like a mark to Kim, Russia, and China, and they conned him beyond belief.
Where's a single NK concession, Matt? They didn't even have to address their human rights -- including the murder of several US citizens.
I'm aghast that anyone sober thinks this went well. It was a disaster.
