Guess they learned their lesson from 1991...the F5 nearly took out a lot of bombers at McConnell.

And even before then there were a number of other events wherein tornadoes, straight-line wind events, hurricanes, and the like ravaged military bases (even with advanced warning).

Hurricane Michael comes to mind with billions in damage just from military aircraft

Tinker also famously got hit twice in 1948 (the second one being the first “successful” tornado forecast).

...A TORNADO WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 145 PM CDT FOR SOUTH
CENTRAL GRANT AND NORTHWESTERN GARFIELD COUNTIES...

At 122 PM CDT, a confirmed tornado was located near Hillsdale, moving
northeast at 35 mph.

HAZARD...Damaging tornado and golf ball size hail.

SOURCE...Weather spotters confirmed tornado.

IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without
shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage
to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is
likely.

Locations impacted include...
Medford, Pond Creek, Kremlin, Hillsdale, and Jefferson.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

To repeat, a tornado is on the ground. TAKE COVER NOW! Move to a
storm shelter, safe room, or an interior room on the lowest floor of
a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a mobile
home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter and
protect yourself from flying debris.

Cells are nice and isolated now, but with better dynamics arriving later, I guess the key will be if they're able to stay isolated and get nicely rooted with strong mesos before we grow upscale later today; good window of time between now and then for some nastiness
