Severe WX Severe Weather Threat 11/5-11/7

SPC MD saying a possibility of a tornado watch for the Tuscaloosa area soon. Due to VAD starting to veer in the low levels that will contribute to a “south delimeter of the tornado risk.” Maybe someone weather smart can expand on that.
Sorry to say this, but I have to wonder if they are just unhappy with the fact the local NWS office omitted those counties.

What was the disconnect with the chaser network and the dynamics tonight? It seems most all were way off and I'm sure it was something that I couldn't see. Why weren't any stationed in the Shoals area? I know Brett was coming from PC but what about the others? Was it just to get a daytime shot back in MS?

Night chasing is so much more dangerous and less rewarding due to the loss of those daytime shots you mentioned. There may not have been any spotters chasing tonight. Also, it was a pretty big geographical area to cover with plenty of hills and trees. Just some possible factors.

I get that, but earlier today there were like 9 all stationed in MS, pretty much within a 50 mile radius.. I wondered why none decided to station in NW Alabama but figured they were trying to get the daytime shots Westward, and like you said had the nighttime to hinder them. Meagan is still out for 3340 but no others. I would have thought they (ABC) would have called others East way before now.

Me neither. LOL. All good, just trying to make sense of it all, myself!
It’s pretty much taboo (or at least heavily frowned upon) for a met to criticize a local NWS office. There have been some very critical and heated discussions on the old board here involving people who dared to criticize a local NWS office. What Richard said was not much of a criticism, but people are thin-skinned these days.

I didn’t know there were 9 out earlier. Guess they didn’t want to mess with the dark. But a good question since the action in N. Alabama was not supposed to even start until around 11pm.
