I just found out that a former member of TalkWeather, Jason Echols of Decatur, AL, passed away this morning from a car accident. I was friends with him on Facebook, and he had a great sense of humor as well as a strong faith. Please pray for his wife and children that they have peace and comfort during this time.

Eternal rest give unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he Rest In Peace.

Out of the depths I cry to thee, O LORD! Lord, hear my voice! Let thy ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications! If thou, O LORD, shouldst mark iniquities, Lord, who could stand? But there is forgiveness with thee, that thou mayest be feared. I wait for the LORD, my soul waits, and in his word I hope; my soul waits for the LORD more than watchmen for the morning, more than watchmen for the morning. O Israel, hope in the LORD! For with the LORD there is steadfast love, and with him is plenteous redemption. And he will redeem Israel from all his iniquities. (Psalm 130)

IIRC, Jason and I joined Talkweather around the same time. We also shared the same birthday as he was one year to the day younger than me. Jason leaves behind a wife and two teenaged children, and lots of friends. Condolences to the Echols family.

I remember him posting and although I never knew him personally, he seemed like a solid guy from the content he wrote. May his family find peace and comfort in their grief.

I saw the news of it yesterday on Facebook. Just terrible news. I didn't know him personally really, but use to talk with him a decent bit back in the day on AIM, and later some on Facebook. You could tell how good of a person he was just from barely getting to know him. Prayers to his family in this awful time.

Not sure why, but I wasn't seeing this announcement until I visited TW from a browser I wasn't logged in under.

I can't believe this. Absolutely terrible news. Like Jacob, I used to talk to Jason via AIM many years back. One of the things Jason helped me with was dealing with the grief of losing my father. He was always a steady source of good cheer and an excellent listener. It pains me to no end to hear this.

My sincere condolences to his family. He was a genuinely great guy who cared a lot about his family, and spoke often about them. I am so very sorry that Jason has passed away.

I will be praying for Jason's family, and praying for the world. Because the world is now a less special place due to the loss of Jason.

We are always tempted to ask WHY did this happen? Why did it happen to a good man, a father, a husband, and a friend? Why not some bad guy instead? If I've learned anything in the 26 years since my own father died in an accident, I've learned that it is a question that truly cannot be answered while we are on this earth. And, from my perspective, it is a question designed by Satan to torment families that have lost loved ones. This, too, was something I distinctly remember Jason helping me with.

If Jason's family ever reads this thread, I want them to know how many of us thought the world of Jason. And, to also know that they are not alone - - Jason's spirit and your memories of him will always remain. God bless you all. I know this tragedy is very raw and surreal right now. But if I can ever help the way Jason helped me I would be glad to do so. I can be PMed here on Talkweather.com or emailed at evan.hyde AT gmail.com.

Good morning everyone,

Pleased to announce that the Jason Echols Memorial Weather Station is online in Springdale, AR. Jason was a great resource to the N. Alabama community. While this station is currently online at my location in Arkansas, it will likely be trekking to a new home in N. Alabama in the coming months. Until then, it will be online for the historic arctic blast set to visit the Ozarks this week. I hope this is a fitting tribute to Jason that he would appreciate.
