I will say, Avery Johnson and company have energized the fan base, especially the students. The atmosphere I saw in Coleman for both Oklahoma and Tennessee were something I hadn’t seen in my whole time at UA.

But we gotta fix the student section. We shouldn’t have to get there 2 hours before to get courtside seats. Move some of the tide pride holders to the upper seating considering most of the older ones sit on their hands the whole game.

They've needed to improve the student section for decades, hopefully they will when they renovate/replace Coleman soon.

Greg Byrne is announcing improvement plans for Coleman later this spring.

Was really happy to see how well the team played against LSU last night. High energy and effort for 40 minutes, and it seems the team is developing a little more chemistry each game.

Glad I was flat out wrong in my earlier knee jerk comments.

Also, Donta Hall might be my favorite player on this team. And in quite some time.

They had their regularly scheduled late 1st half dry spell, then closed strong in the final minute. The run after Sexton got his 4th foul was impressive. LSU never held a lead in that game, and when they missed the dunk down 45-44 to get their first lead, I knew it was over.

You're right, the chemistry is getting stronger with every game. I'm looking forward to the Kentucky game. We're going to be out Saturday but I'm furiously looking for a place to watch the 2nd half.

Donta Hall reminds me of Trever Releford and Retin Obasohan. All three were thrust into key roles as freshmen, before they were ready. They kept working hard and by their junior years they were completely different players and leaders on their team. I think Hall can play in the NBA but he really could use his senior year in college. Fortunately, he plays for a coach who knows what it takes to play in the league and will give him good advice. He needs to add some weight though.

Agreed that Hall could play in the NBA eventually, but there are areas he needs to improve in to get there. He's got the raw athleticism though.

I'm hopeful none of the players will get some bad advice and leave after this season (mainly Key/Hall would be the concerns).

Key tested the waters last year. I like the rule that allows players to declare, get evaluated and make a decision to return. We might see that with Hall, but I really think he returns.

I would be GREATLY appreciative of my roommate if he didn't turn the heater on when it's in the 70s outside..

Alabama has been named in the FBI's investigation into basketball programs, specifically regarding our recruiting of Sexton..

Eh, now that I read the implications, he accepted a free meal in which his father reimbursed and he sat the first game of the season for. This shouldn't affect anything with him, but I never like the NCAA snooping around....nothing good will ever come from that.

Who would have guessed that a flamed out NBA coach could be a potentially toxic hire for a program?

Gee wiz I never guessed that one.

Okay that's not too bad. Much better than what's going on at Louisville where the FBI may be prepared to start levying criminal charges on staff members.

The article that brought this to light unfortunately doesn't provide any real information regarding Sexton.

Remember he was suspended earlier this season due to improper benefits in the form of a meal paid for by an agent. That article specifically mentions him having a meal with an agent, but provides no more information. This could be a whole new can of worms, or Sexton's role in this is what he was already cleared for earlier in the season.

I still say when things are all said and done, the NCAA will have no real choice but to not really punish anybody. They've known this was how things were for YEARS, everybody did. This whole FBI thing is just starting to come to light and you've already got the following involved in some capacity

    Alabama
    Auburn
    LSU
    Kentucky
    North Carolina
    North Carolina State
    Duke
    Villanova
    Virginia
    Michigan State
    Louisville
    Maryland
    Seton Hall
    Washington
    South Carolina
    USC
    Texas
    Utah
    Xavier
    Wichita State
    Clemson
    Kansas
    Clemson
    Creighton
    Iowa State
    Vanderbilt
    Notre Dame

I'm guessing don't understand how college basketball recruiting has been. If you want to win, you had to play the game. That's why when this whole FBI thing busts wide open, literally almost every top program will likely be implemented. The NCAA has known for a long time, but refused to clean it up (or was powerless to do so). Gottfried played the game at Bama, that's why we got some good players under him. Grant was a bit of a cleaner coach, which in the end was (part of) his undoing.

College basketball and AAU makes college football recruiting look clean.

I still don’t think he’s the guy to lead Bama basketball regardless of this. But if make the tourney, I think realistic expectations will be met. Sorry, I’m flaming because of getting arse whooped by the Barn.

Bill Battle was just a turrible AD. Struck out with the baseball coach hire. Had Greg Marshall in the bag and screwed the pooch on that one. Stripped students of traditions. I don’t really like the man.

Unless there is new info on Sexton this doesn't show, this was simply click bait to get us Bammers to read the article. I mean, it is great reporting as usual by the Yahoo! guys, but the more clicks the merrier!

Wouldn't shock me if Sexton doesn't play tomorrow though.

Yeah college basketball is a much, much dirtier sport than football is. I'm not sure why exactly that's the case (Maybe the fact that you can go into the NBA after only one season?), but the fact that the FBI is having to come in and do the NCAA's dirty work is frankly kind of sad..
