This country has become more divided in the last year than I can ever remember it being dating back to when I was a kid in the mid-late 60's. I thought Obama missed a great chance to use his position and influence with minorities to have summits and dialogue on unity. To me he just sat on his hands and ignored the problems and they got worse. Trump has turned up the factionalism several notches by being down right outwardly divisive and confrontational. He relishes the discord and strife he helps perpetuate. I'm wondering if he has a master plan to push our society into chaos so he can implement Martial Law?

I highly doubt Trump wants to implement Marshall Law. The more divided he nation is, the more powerful his base can be.

FEMA had large amounts of food, water & generators pre-positioned on the island prior to landfall for immediate distribution. Trump initiated disaster declarations for Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands prior to landfall to allow federal funding to be available immediately.

The main reason it took a few days for commercial airline traffic to be able to get to and leave Puerto Rico was because FEMA and other federal agencies were using the airport to help in relief efforts.

The people complaining about the Jones Act were either ignoring, or didn't know, American ships were getting supplies to the island. The hold up was getting the items distributed once in port. Adding more ships to the equating wouldn't help. I do believe, though, that Trump should have handled this differently for PR purposes if nothing else(I'm aware the Act was temporarily lifted this morning).

Thousands of federal workers and people representing various charities are on the ground helping as we speak and have been there all along.

We have to keep in mind, this isn't a drive to Texas or Florida, things may not happen as quickly as the Puerto Rican people need or as quickly as we'd like to see happen. The devastation there is enormous. It is a terrible situation that I believe is being handled about as well as it can be. As with anything, there will be mistakes and lessons learned.

Trump appears insensitive because, honestly, he is insensitive. But this isn't the gross negligence it is being made out to be.

Also, all ports in PR were closed and all aids to navigation were gone. USCG has done an admiral job getting the ports back open.

I just saw that half of Puerto Rico doesn’t have access to water and only 5% of the island has electricity. This is inexcusable at this point.

Yeah, I noticed this as well. Seems a little weird to have a "behind closed doors" meeting with attorneys and a chief justice if there's 'nothing there'.

The Jones Act waiver hasn’t now expired in Puerto Rico. I guess all the problems are solved and they don’t need increased shipping capability.

Correct me if I am wrong:
  • Epstein went to jail for trafficking young teens
  • Trump was at those parties and named in a suit
  • The guy who gave Epstein that sweetheart deal where he went to "prison" for 13 months (but really spent 6 out of 7 days working from his home) is now our Labor Secretary

The Daily Show with Trevor Noah (very liberal) had a nightly segment during the campaign that played clips just like this.. Every night for weeks. One of the reasons I thought "maybe he could be a good pick & end up making bipartisan choices?" But ultimately ended up being "I cannot trust this guy, even a little, on anything, ever."
