This whole QB situation is becoming more and more toxic.

It frankly is and it's turning into a black mark on the program heading into this season.

Granted, I will take Jalen in a heartbeat if Tua indeed has mindset issues like the article alluded to. No room for that nonsense here and I hope Saban sits down and gives him a stern warning to correct that, or he'll be starting the season on the bench. We have a reliable backup with Mac Jones anyways, so its not like we're in trouble if he does leave.

Rumors circulating that Coach Saban is going to name the starting QB today at media days and will squash the notion of any QB controversy. Not sure how true that is however. He should be taking the podium any minute.

One year ago, Bama was ranked 51st in recruiting with only 6 or 7 recruits. Today, Bama is #1 by a long shot at 20 pledges with several big more prospects making commitments soon. As I have said previously, the negative recruiting against Saban pissed him off...so he went out and hired a very talented and energetic young staff. They are paying off in dividends.

Not only that, he's completely changed the demeanor around the program. They tried to say he was a robot with no personality, and he goes out and starts doing shenanigans like the getting stranded on a lake with a bunch of players. He knows how to adapt like nobody else.

Nick Saban receives a contract extension through 2025 season making $8.3 million a year....pushing him back to the highest paid coach in the land again.

Urban Meyer on indefinite suspension pending a Title IX investigation at Ohio State after evidence surfaced stating he was aware that an assistant coach had assaulted his wife multiple times and he actively attempted to cover it up, so far as having people on his staff pressure her into keeping quiet.

Absolutely disgusting human being, but knowing how he ran his program at Florida that doesn't exactly surprise me.

Jalen didn't exactly sound.. stellar during his interview at fan day. Even kind of threw the coaching staff under the bus. I'm going to support both players during the battle but that's not a good look for him.

It has only gotten worse. We now have his mother blabbing her mouth on facebook about internal issues on top of his comments. It is time for Jalen to leave...whether that means on his own accord or through dismissal. I'm thinking Tua is won the competition, although Saban has kept a tight lip, and Jalen is salty as hell.

Cecil Hurt nails it as usual. Jalen has kept to himself, not turning to social media to make any snide remarks. He was asked questions and gave honest answers. I don't see a problem to be honest. Saban isn't stupid, he knew questions would be asked once he made Jalen available and he had to know the answers might stir some controversy. https://www.tidesports.com/cecil-hurt-will-hurts-candid-conversation-help-or-hurt-him/

Honesty is the best policy. Playing the victim is not. Communication is a two-way street...supposedly no one talked to you about how you feel, okay, then YOU make it clear. This isn't kindergarden, although your parents seem to be fighting battles for you. I don't see how this interview will help him in any way...but I could be wrong. It really was his own father that really started the "if Jalen doesn't win the job, he is going to be the biggest free agent in college football" narrative. So, yeah, I'm sure it is hard to win over the team and staff when you OWN father is casting doubt on your future with the team.

And I'm not sure he is even telling the truth. He has been on several leadership trips with other veteran players. I find it hard to believe that no one has talked to him...even once...about how he feels where he is with the team. Saban said just a few weeks back to the QBs, "don't do anything to draw attention to yourself." Jalen failed that test. And Saban is taking note.

That's my biggest issue with the whole situation. He could and should have handled this behind closed doors either in the locker room or in Saban's office. Bashing the staff in a media interview that is now the most talked about thing in college football besides the Urban Meyer fiasco was the one thing he didn't want to do. As a general rule (And one I had to learn myself the hard way), you praise your superiors in public and address issues in private, not the other way around. I don't think that's going to mean Saban just hands the first team to Tua, but he may send a VERY stern message to Jalen that if he does that again he'll be shown the door. The difference in how Tua and Jalen conducted themselves was night and day yesterday. Tua talked about needing to improve his leadership abilities and win the team - he made it clear that this was a team effort. Jalen made it all "me me me my feelings are hurt", and just came off as kind of petty even if he was being honest. I'm not saying the staff hasn't left the issue unaddressed until now, because I know in the past Saban has had a tendency to cold-shoulder his QBs during position battles. But Tua handled his interview much better than Jalen, there's no denying that.

Edit: Another thing to add is that insiders with closer access to the program generally say that Tua is held in higher regard in the locker room, especially by the offensive players. That may be telling as well..

Speaking of the media interview, what the hell was that word salad by Jalen of something cooking on the stove? Looks like he needs to work more on more than just his passing skills.

I’m sorry. He’s just completely soured me with this BS.

LOL @ USA Today saying Nick Saban has "lost control of the competition"

No.. he has not. Saban has control of this team and if its proven Hurts is becoming a distraction, he will be shown the door and told to transfer elsewhere. Talk about wishful thinking.

I'd love to know the mental gymnastics his mother did to somehow drag Trump into this?

Honestly sounds like she's trying to pull the race-bait trick.. especially with her "compliant and controlled" rhetoric like her son was somehow in prison.

I went from fully supporting both players to thinking Jalen and his entire family is a cancer to the program and needs to be removed from the team in a span of 24 hours.. this is just nonsense at this point. It sounds more and more like has has Blake Barnett syndrome but it was just hidden for two years because he stepped on campus and won the starting job 20 minutes into his first season. His dad's "My son will be the biggest FA in college football history" comments, to Jalen bashing the coaching staff, to his mom seeming to imply anyone who supports Trump but doesn't support her son is a racist.

He needs to be shown the door after all of this. Give Tua the 1st team reps, Mac Jones the 2nd team reps, and tell Jalen he's getting demoted to 3rd string if he stays but he is more than welcome to pack his things and leave. This has gone from a player whose frustrated and made a poor decision to just a family full of entitlement.

A call-in guest on this Alabama radio show summed it up perfectly. I agree with everything he's saying 100% in regards to Jalen Hurts.
