Its the AAU world that makes basketball dirtier.

Someone once said in a local radio interview when Alabama and Auburn were coached by Grant and Lebo that neither program would be good again until they played the AAU game of recruiting athletes. Those players are steered to the programs that do whatever it is they do to make AAU coaches rich, and at times also benefiting the players' families.. Grant & Lebo wouldn't get in the gutter and the programs suffered as a result.

Allegedly.

Things got ugly in Arizona tonight, and I'm sure its just the tip of the iceberg.

Senator Sanford is trying to push another fantasy sports bill through the senate. Let's see if it can even get out of committee. They were 4-5 short last year getting a vote on the floor.

Louisiana has now overtaken Mississippi as the worst state in the Union, according to U.S. and World News Report. Seems pretty accurate to me.

Something has happened in the locker room, I'm just not sure what. This team has quit.

Much of the rest of the season was frustrating but as far as the future goes didn't overly concern me. The team quitting and showing the body language that they have the past couple games towards the coach and just in general is extremely concerning going forward.

And that is what separates Avery Johnson from a good basketball coach. Good coaches don't go 0-4 into their last 5 games. #FireAveryJohnson

At least baseball has swept their last 2 opponents. 7-0 baby!

At this point he's lost me. I know he won't be let go after this season, but I won't have any hopes for next season.

I'm not really even sure firing him is the right solution right now, simply because of the giant FBI cloud hanging over college basketball. Need to let that sort itself out before making any moves because who knows who will come out of this dirty and who will come away clean.

Problem now is that Greg Byrne is covering his rear due to everything imploding at Arizona. This might take the pressure off of Avery, but it shouldn't...

Gregg Marshall was fully prepared to take the Alabama job back when we offered him it. The fact that we managed to let Wichita Community College outbid us is saddening.

Mal Moore is rolling in his grave right now. He would not have let somebody of Marshall's caliber slip away.

I told someone tonight that the team has stopped listening to Avery. There were times tonight when I wondered if a couple of the guys have ever seen a basketball game before.

Avery is a CEO. He's a Mike Shula type. He does not command the locker room like Nick Saban does, and it shows.

Alabama is a sleeping giant in basketball. We're getting elite recruits with a mediocre coach. A top tier coach with the right financial investment could turn us into a power. Wichita State, while a nice Cinderella story, shouldn't be able to offer anything Alabama can't.

Teams need vocal leaders in the locker room. Who is this team's leader? I can't find one. Some of that is on the coach, but a player needs to step up. Being the son of a coach, one might think AJ Jr would be that leader, but in this instance he is the son of THE coach, so I can see why he wouldn't want that role.

Much less pressure at Wichita and lesser competition. If he can make comparable money and is happy then why move? Plus, at Wichita his program is king.

We are one of the top SEC programs historically. Competing in the NCAA tourney every year was expected. If we missed it, that was a down year. Now, we act like it is some major accomplishment if we are even considered. I'm over it, but I'm sure Johnson's got one more year. I feel like Charlie Brown and Avery Johnson is Lucy yanking the football away at the last minute. The man has got to go and the ball is in Byrne's court (pun intended).

Agreed, Marshall was playing Alabama the entire time with that deal.
