Excuse me if this has been posted already, but I just saw a report that FOUR sheriffs deputies were at the school and made no attempt whatsoever to penetrate the building for 5-6 minutes, instead hiding behind their cars with guns drawn. Absolutely sickening.

No.... I think LaPierre has made a poor extrapolation from the intent of the Founding Fathers and ran his line through God to give credibility to a certain element of his base because he knew they would eat it up. The Founding Fathers, although very wise men, were not infallible themselves as some who claim to be patriots want to believe, but God is.

Yet he was quoting them. And MLK Jr. He didn't even really extrapolate. Again, it's a common thing that throughout history people have said.

You can believe that owning firearms aren't a right. People believe that about free speech. But is is called the Bill of Rights. Not something made up. Personally, I don't rank our rights and only pick and choose which ones I want to defend. To me, the original amendments in the Bill of Rights all have equal importance. Americans never know when they will need the protection of one of them. Imagine if free speech and freedom of the press was a mere privilege under Trump.

It's pretty obvious now that our government failed us miserably in this recent shooting. Unlike Las Vegas, where it seems like opportunities were extremely limited to stop the shooter, you rarely get more red flags than you did with the Parkland shooting.

Too bad, right? Government fails ALL OVER the place yet their solution is to take away the rights of law abiding citizens. No thanks. Israel would resign if he had any shame. He actually thought he was going to win an award for his actions and be America's courageous Sheriff that took a stand against guns. He was looking forward to the media attention.

So disgraceful that I finally joined the NRA. No one else seems to care about Constitutional Rights anymore. I plan to donate to the political opponent of any Alabama politician that introduces a single gun control measure.

This was malfeasance, at the very least, by those officers and everyone who brushed off credible, numerous tips.

Have you seen the FBI transcript? It defies all logic. How the hell can law abiding citizens be punished when LE and the FBI can't even stop a guy that was literally saying he was going to shoot up a school more than a dozen times in the past 6 months?

I'm at from my cold dead hands level, now.

On the topic of the Las Vegas shooting, it's amazing how quiet that got. The lack of surveillance video. The lack of transparency. I understand the need if they're following another lead, but 6 months later and...crickets.

If someone had told me we'd have the worst mass shooting in the history of this country and hear nothing from those investigating it....I would've told you how crazy you are.

But the same could be said about the Broward County Sheriffs' response. 4 uniformed, armed deputies doing NOTHING as people are being killed. Like what in holy hell. Something seriously stinks here...

I’m not a big gun guy and I wouldn’t abide by that. I feel I need the weapons I have.

I'm really not a big gun guy, either. It's a rights thing. Same reason I have always spoken out about Trump screwing around with libel laws and SJWs trying to silence the 1st amendment rights of others -- or RWNJs doing the same. It's not about agreeing with people's use of their rights. It's that they have them. Only way to protect all of mine is to protect all of theirs. That's why Civil Asset forfeiture is insane, too.

I don't watch TV and wasn't online last night, so waking up this morning and finding out that there were FOUR sheriff deputies outside that school hiding/waiting/doing whatever it was they were doing while innocent kids were being murdered inside those walls boils my blood. This almost seems intentional. It not only goes against basic human instinct to help those around you it goes against the instinct of what makes a cop a cop. The other police department did not hesitate to go in. I want to know WHAT or WHO got these men to stand down. No decent police officer would stand outside a school and listen to children being slaughtered and do nothing. Something is wrong here.

I hope Sheriff Israel basked in his fifteen minutes of being the media's darling. His time is up.

I know there's a lot of factors of allowing teachers to carry, a lot of unknowns, but after this news, I'm not against it after waking up this morning to this story. A specially trained armed teacher would have been these kids best hope in Parkland that day. The damn sheriff's department sure as hell wasn't going to save them. All they've done is cast doubt in people's minds that law enforcement will arrive on scene and do their job. Is it fair to all law enforcement? No. But between the FBI and Broward County Sheriff's Department, the die has been cast. Whatever psychological damage a teacher would face having to engage an active shooting situation, is it less or more damaging than watching your students be riddled with bullets right in front of you and there's nothing you can do about it? And no one rushing in to stop it while more die? I'm just speaking out loud because I don't know the answer. But on this particular day in this particular high school...I would have liked it if someone inside that school had had a chance to answer the killer's call to kill and taken him out. Maybe some lives could have been saved while the deputies outside did NOTHING.

I'm not saying it's the answer...but waiting for a hero to show up isn't always the answer either. Sometimes we have to be our own heroes and face evil where it confronts us.

I just want to know how sick in the mind do you have to be to stand on the bodies of your slaughtered classmates and teachers to achieve fame and to spew your agenda.

Showing his knowledge of firearms here...

We're clearly going to have to redefine what a machine gun is if this is what we're classifying a bump stock as. Time to dump Trump. Ready for someone who is knowledgeable in the 2nd Amendment.

"By the way, bump stocks, we're writing that out. I'm writing that out myself. I don't care if Congress does it or not, I'm writing it out myself. You put it into the machine gun category, which is what it is. It becomes essentially a machine gun and nobody's going to be able, it's going to be very hard to get them, so we're writing out bump stocks," he said.
