Can someone explain to me how selling all of these high tech weapons systems to the Saudis is good for America?

That was my thought exactly. Matt said jobs.. But something about over $100B in weaponry going to the middle east doesn't scream "great!" to me.

From Wikipedia...
"While Saudi Arabia is often a secondary source of funds and support for terror movements who can find more motivated and ideologically invested benefactors (e.g. Qatar), Saudi Arabia arguably remains the most prolific sponsor of international Islamist terrorism, allegedly supporting groups as disparate as the Afghanistan Taliban, Al Qaeda, Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and the Al-Nusra Front.[96]

Saudi Arabia is said to be the world's largest source of funds and promoter of Salafist jihadism,[97] which forms the ideological basis of terrorist groups such as al-Qaeda, Taliban, ISIS and others."

We have been selling high tech weaponry to the Saudis for decades. Nothing new. It will hopefully reduce the need for American military might to counter Iran. Saudi is currently involved in a proxy war with Iran in Yemen.

Hope it doesn't come back to bite us... Saudis promote Salafi‐Jihadist terrorism all over the world. I don't trust them... do you?

I think the Saudis have had a wake up call. They fear Iran and need us to arm them to keep Iran at bay. We shall see.

It appears Trump wants to pull the US out of the Paris climate Accord, which was agreed and signed upon 195 of 197 countries and ratified by 147 countries so far (including the US). I'm sure climate change deniers can shrug this off as "good", but the majority of Americans, me included, must be entirely frustrated that such a landmark agreement and an incredible symbol of unity among the world's countries, can be potentially spoiled by this one man.
While I hope the rest of the world continues to implement policies to reach the agreements goals, I fear our bad example will make neglecting them much easier.

Relevant Gallup poll I found while trying to figure out how many Americans believed that climate change was occurring and was man-made

I guess Trump and the 32% win again.

Those of you with children, is Trump's claim about Barron's reaction to the repugnant Kathy Griffin photos seem credible to you?

Do you think 11 year old boys are casually watching hours of cable TV news and then would say "Mommy, Mommy" and then screamed in panic? A child that most likely has seen violent movies/TV shows and/or played video games with similar content?

This whole "Barron freaked out" because he thought it was his father would seem to fit the reaction of a child half his age. My daughter is 5 yet can suss out that kind of stuff very quickly. She understands sarcasm, and she can tell when things are fake as she can watch YouTube for Kids (restricted to age appropriate content).

Finally, I also remember being 8 years old, and very clearly recalling how I reacted when my mother told me that my father had died in a plane crash. I also remember my brother's reaction (who was Barron's age). Furthermore, I unfortunately had the duty, as an adult, to assist in informing two young children that their mother died (younger than Barron), and I will never forget their reactions nor that day.

An 11 year old would be much more likely to assume something like the Kathy Griffin photos were fake than to assume they were real. The entire story seems concocted, and it seems like someone who doesn't spend time around children's perception (I wonder who???) of how an 11 year would react if 11 year olds sat around watching cable news with their mother in the middle of the day. Even more bizarre is the idea that the network Melania was supposedly watching didn't explain what they were about to show, and that somehow Melania didn't know about the controversy. Weird considering the pictures were on TMZ, and spread heavily through social media before appearing on TV. No one from the WH communicated about it to Melania? Her husband didn't call her???

I think that as repugnant as it is for Kathy Griffin to do what she did, it is just as repugnant to make up a fable about your children to garner sympathy. It is psychopathic.

I think the Trump's are taking advantage of an opportunity to punch back. Remember, don't let a crisis go to waste. even if it's a small one.
