Look at this loop, http://www.ssd.noaa....1/loop-vis.html and turn on the Tropical Forecast Points when it loads. You can see that Dean is already going to pass north of the next forecast location, and if he stays on the current track will likely pass just north of Jamaica. I'm expecting a more westward turn in a few hours...we'll just have to wait and see.

Edit....You beat me to the draw WBB.

Ah,thanks.I am behind on this thing.

Look OUT DR!!! lol...j/k. Its funny its been running around 295-300 since 6am or so. Its gonna be interesting to see what this may or may not do. Also, FWIW, miami's sounding at 12z indicated the H5 temp was at -12C thats pretty darn cold for summer time. ULL gots some kick with it.

Gah... we had a terrible lightning storm around 4:30 yesterday and it knocked out my internet. icon_mad.gif I'm at the library now, this sucks, having to depend on TWC for info. icon_confused.gif

Very impressive storm.

Whats the deal with power and internet outtages the last day?

A buddy of mine works for NWS in Norman and his internet went down yesterday evening till early this morning. Last night at about 9:30 our power went out for the entire street. Then you lost your internet...TWC for the lose icon_sad.gif

I know this will get buried in this thread...but I'll post again as this hurricane nears.

There is a man from the Shoals area that owns a house on Grand Cayman. He has a live weather station, and 12 live cameras online from that location. The house got damaged badly during Ivan, and it will be interesting to watch as we go through the weekend.

Live weather data here... http://caymanchillin...in-weather.html
Live cams here... http://caymanchillin...hillin-live.htm

Another weather station on the west side of the island is here http://sunsethouse.c...houselive06.gif

How about, I'll create a new thread for cameras and weather stations which we can update through out the storm, and add it to the links at the top. PM a moderator to have them added or post them here and maybe one of them will catch them, or I will change it if I see one here too.

I would like to thank everyone that has contributed to this thread thus far. 35 pages without Moderator intervention is almost unheard of on a weather forum. This speaks volumes for the quality of our memberbase, and your ability to make imformative posts with an amiable disposition. TalkWeather may not be the largest weather forum on the internet, but I wouldn't trade what we have for any of them.

Hmm... One of these reports says that bird song has gone silent. Wondering if anybody here have noticed changes in nature/animal behaviour a day or two before a hurricane?

From talking with people on the Gulf Coast, after hurricane Katrina, I learned that a lot of animals appeared to move inland. So there may be something to that. Obviously animals are hyper-sensitive to weather changes. I am sure the extreme drop in pressure alerts them to the fact that a storm is coming. Would be interesting if someone kept logs on that type of behavior (perhaps there are those that do).

My 2 cents. If it hits cancun/cozmell?? and it reenter the gulf of mexico at a Cat 3, its gonna hit as a cat 4 not a cat 3 where ever the second landfall is, I also think it's gonna be a cat 1 or 2 once it leaves cancun

Anyone else get the impression that Dean might miss Jamaica to the north?

Hurricanes usually seem to sneak around Jamaica for whatever reason. We've seen it happen over and over again.
