I've always wondered but never found an answer, but what are the black crosses that show up on the radar image below?  There is one on the Madison/Limestone county line just above Morgan County, and there is another in Jefferson County right under the "m" in Birmingham.

I can't post the image here so instead follow this link.  Thanks.

I don't see any black crosses on that image.  Are they always there, or do they come and go?

I am not sure if this is what you are referring to but the black crosses on Weather Underground images are usually location specific information. For example, I use them on a web site I have setup to track warnings. Here is a 4-panel setup. You can see it best on the reflectivity image in the upper left corner. In this case I am passing a lat/long to Weather Underground as part of the URL and it places the cross where the estimated location of the tornado is. On their site you will often see it labelled (you) because you have specified as part of your preference where you live (or if you are looking at a specific zip code it might place you somewhere there).

Doesn't lightning data show up as tiny crosses on those wunderground radar maps? That may be it. I didn't notice them either...the only cross I saw was the white one for the KHTX RDA location.

Lightning tends to show up as a larger or smaller dot. I don't look at that much so it may have changed in recent days. I am curious if he is referring to a radar artifact of some sort though ...

He is not referring to lightning because those showers don't look to be producing any. I don't think it's the specific location either because he says its under the m in Birmingham and Madison/Limestone county line.

In wunderground, lightning from the past hour shows up on the map, so they could have been from something already dissipated. weunice set me straight, tho...I forgot lightning showed up as tiny squares on there instead of crosshairs.

It may be location related. I live in Huntsville though east of the cross on my map and my step son lives in Adamsville, which is where the m in Birmingham is, and those are both locations I check frequently. That would explain why I only see them.
