Statement as of 4:30 PM CDT on April 7, 2007

... Historic April snowfall event across North Texas...

An unseasonably cold airmass combined with a strong upper level
disturbance moving in from the Pacific resulted in unprecedented
April snowfall today.

Officially at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (dfw) a trace
of snowfall fell today. This is the first time that snow has fallen
in April in exactly 69 years... when a trace of snow fell on April 7,
1938. This is also only the fifth time that snow was reported at
dfw in the month of April since records began. Today's trace of
snow ties the monthly and daily records.

Officially at Waco... so far the preliminary snowfall measurement is
1.0 inches. This sets a new daily and monthly record for snowfall
in Waco. It is also only the third time snow has fallen in the
month of April at Waco. The last time snow fell in April was in
1992 on the 2nd. Since more snow is in the forecast for Waco this
evening... it is possible that this record amount could increase.

WACO, TEXAS

Statement as of 9:53 PM CDT on April 07, 2007

... Snow Advisory remains in effect until midnight CDT tonight...

Periods of light to moderate snow will slowly come to an end
late this evening. Additional snow accumulations between one half
and one inch will still be possible through midnight... mainly on
grassy surfaces. Some slick spots will remain on roads... especially
bridges and overpasses.

A Snow Advisory means that periods of snow are expected which may
cause travel difficulties
